Mystery by the Sea member Allie Marie’s novel, Teardrops of the Innocent: The White Diamond Story, took second place in the Paranormal category of the New England Readers’ Choice 2015 Awards. The sequel, Heart of Courage: The Red Ruby Story is now available on Amazon.
Another MBTS member, Maria Hudgins, took second place in the 2016 Christopher Newport University Writers Conference Fiction Contest with the first chapter of her latest mystery novel, The Papyrus Clue. The book centers on a young Cherokee archaeologist who travels to Egypt in 1955 to help document antiquities that will be flooded when the Aswan High Dam is built. She is also on the hunt for a 2,000-year-old buried secret from Alexandria, Egypt.
Maria Hudgins will share insights from her career as a mystery writer during the writer’s conversation panel at Coastal Crime Fest 3 on March 19.
Maria grew up in the hills of eastern Tennessee in the little village of Mosheim and now lives in Hampton, Virginia, with Holly and Hamilton, her two Bichon Frise rescues. She taught high school science for 30 years and retired with a head full of information that often creeps into her novels. Maria is the author of five Dotsy Lamb Travel Mysteries, set in five different countries. She has also written two Lacy Glass Archaeology Mysteries, available on Kindle. Maria researches her the settings for her novels thoroughly—she is an inveterate traveler.
