Jayne Ormerod, right, goes over the keys to great mystery writing, as modeled by Jane Bones.

Jayne Ormerod is the author of two cozy mysteries, The Blond Leading the Blond and Blond Faith. Her short stories have appeared in numerous anthologies, including Virginia is for Mysteries, Virginia is for Mysteries Volume II, Chesapeake Crimes 3, and By the Bay: East Beach Stories. She also wrote an e-novella titled Behind the Blue Door: 230 Periwinkle Place.

This year at Coastal Crime Fest Jayne will be helping to present The History of the Mystery.

Jayne writes what she knows—small towns (influenced by her childhood growing up in Chagrin Falls, Ohio) and beach settings (a result of 30 years as a navy spouse, always living within a flip-flop’s throw of the ocean.) Thanks to a youth spent reading Nancy Drew and an adulthood devouring the words of Janet Evanovich, Mary Daheim, and Lillian Jackson Braun, she can now write about amateur sleuths, exploding cars, and dead bodies with a modicum of authority. Jayne also runs Bay Breeze Publishing. Visit her online at http://www.jayneormerod.com.
